Sagemono for children
Small toy that could be classified as a children’s sagemono.
A sagemono (提げ物) is a traditional accessory that hangs from the obi, which is the belt of the kimono. Usually sagemono are containers that originally served to compensate for the lack of pockets of the kimono and are often embellished with a miniature sculpture called netsuke.
This toy is made up of ten 5mm thick pink plastic cards, with a hole in one corner and connected by a single purple string joined at the top.
It is not certain that this is an official toy, since there is also another variant of it with hanafuda cards, which however may not have the Nintendo name on them.
This is the smallest Nintendo ace of spades known. The cards measure 2cm height, while the ace of spades is only 8mm height.
The cards depicted are: 2 aces of spades, 2 aces of clubs, 1 ace of hearts, 2 kings of spades, 2 kings of diamonds, 1 king of clubs.
