週刊少年サンデー (Weekly Shōnen Sunday) No.50 (1968)
A full-page colour advertisement for Snow Brand (Yukijirushi) Stick Cheese, printed inside Weekly Shōnen Sunday no. 50, 8 December 1968.
The headline promises “a home run every week”, offering readers the chance to win the then hugely popular Nintendo batting machine. A smiling boy eating a cheese stick fills the lower half, beside a photo of the opened toy box and its illustrated lid showing a batter hitting a pitched ball. The grand prize is Nintendo’s “Ultra Machine” (ウルトラマシン), the spring-loaded ball-pitching toy launched in 1967 and designed by Gunpei Yokoi, with 100 units awarded every week by draw. Entry required mailing in empty cheese wrappers: three 28g packs or six 15g packs per entry. A second “Hit Prize” gave 4000 weekly winners a plastic sports-car model kit (Ferrari P-4, Ford, or Porsche Carrera 6). Entries closed each Saturday, with the final deadline 14 December 1968 (postmark accepted). Winners were announced simply by dispatch of the prizes.
